Marah Woodlee went 3-for-4 and Patrick Henry moved closer to the Hogoheegee District regular-season softball title as the Rebels rolled past Holston for an 8-0 triumph on Wednesday.
Sophia Wright added two hits, while Blair Rutherford connected for an inside-the-park home run in the fifth inning.
Rutherford’s sprint around the bases headlined a seven-run fifth inning.
Sophia Wright struck out six in pitching a three-hitter.
Sydney Bishop and Katie Remine each hit a double for Holston. Losing pitcher Rily Cobler of the Cavaliers struck out 11.

John Battle 5, Lee High 3
The John Battle Trojans earned a critical Mountain 7 District victory on Wednesday and you could say this win was Taylor Made.
Taylor Childress pitched a five-hitter and also went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs in a road win over the Lee High Generals.
A win over Union on Saturday would give Battle the league’s regular-season championship.
It was a typical performance for Childress, who is having a stellar season.
“She has really stepped it up,” said John Battle coach Tom Harmon. “She is finishing just as strong as she starts now. She is hitting her spots good and her offspeed is working much better. I’m really proud of her and the rest of the team for not giving up and fighting to the end. Her bat was good tonight and has been several times this year.”
Eden Wallace and Kailee McCroskey added two hits apiece for the Trojans.
Wallace and Madison Bowery also made run-saving catches in the outfield and first baseman Raniah Gaitor turned an unassisted double play to end the game.
“The energy level is hight right now and they all are doing their part to help us win,” Harmon said. "
Lee High was the favorite in the Mountain 7’s preseason coaches poll, but Battle has been unbeaten in league play thus far.
Chloe Bledsoe went 3-for-3 for Lee and scored two of the team’s runs.

Union 5, Wise County Central 1
Bella Bascope’s RBI single, Kynlee Johnson’s RBI double and a sacrifice fly from Braleigh Mullins in the top of the sixth inning turned out to be the difference as the Union Bears edged the Wise County Central Warriors for a Mountain 7 District win.
The game was a pitching duel between Union’s Aliyah Davidson and Central’s Hannah Salyer.
Davidson tossed a five-hitter with three strikeouts.
Salyer crafted a five-hitter with one strikeout.
The contest was scoreless after five innings.
Kaylee Rutherford had an RBI single and also scored on an error in the fifth inning.
Salyer had two hits for Central, while the lone run for the Warriors came in the bottom of the sixth inning as Sofie Carter scored on an RBI single via Adele Dingus.

Eastside 11, Thomas Walker 1
Emmaleigh Banks made a deposit over the fence and that highlighted Eastside’s triumph over Thomas Walker in a Cumberland District clash.
Banks went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs, while also pitching two innings of relief as the Spartans cashed in with another victory.
Jada Jordan (2-for-3, double, two RBIs) and Haley Day (three runs) also keyed the win.
Eastside (14-1) did not have ace pitcher Braelyn Hall in its lineup.
Braeley McCoy and Banks combined to pitch a three-hitter with eight strikeouts.
Sophie Ellis scored the only run for Thomas Walker on an RBI fielder’s choice from Mahala Cain in the fourth inning.
Sophie Lawson and Addison Lawson had the other hits for the Pioneers.

Eden Muncy was the star of the show once again.
Muncy struck out 16 in pitching a three-hitter as the Rye Cove Eagles improved to 17-0 with a non-district win.
Oh yeah, she also went 2-for-3 with a home run.
The East Tennessee State University recruit has a 0.47 ERA to go along with a .492 batting average.
Gracie Turner went 3-for-4, Jazz Stanley smacked out two hits and Gracie Byrd scored twice.
Chloe Couch went 2-for-4 with a double for Lebanon. She drove in Abigail Skeen in the third inning for the team’s only run.
Lebanon has faced most of the area’s top pitchers this season as the Pioneers have faced Tennessee High’s Carly Compton and Arin Rife of Richlands as well as Muncy.

Maggie Crabtree went 3-for-4 and scored two runs as the Abingdon Falcons won a Mountain 7 District contest.
Riley Singleton also had three hits for AHS, while Montanna Dillowe and Sophie Spurlock each had two RBIs for the Falcons.
A 15-hit attack also included two hits apiece from Brenna Green and Kinley Brooks.
Lauren Baker struck out 11 in pitching a five-hitter.
Ada Gillenwater and Makayla Bays homered for Gate City.
Auburn 4, George Wythe 3
Faith Wilson scored the tiebreaking run in the top of the seventh inning as the Auburn Eagles rallied past George Wythe for a crucial Mountain Empire District victory.
Auburn led 3-0 after five innings, but GW scored thrice in the sixth inning to knot the score on Makenna Gilman’s RBI double and Olivia Shockley’s two-run single.
Marion 11, Fort Chiswell 10
Ella Moss hit a two-run home run to cap a five-run seventh inning to lift Marion to a thrilling non-district home win over the Pioneers in a game that featured 33 hits, including six home runs.
The home run by Moss came soon after Alexa Blevins had hit a three-run home run earlier in the seventh inning. Taylor Preston homered twice for the Scarlet Hurricanes in the second and fourth innings. Layla Roberts had three hits for Marion (6-6, 2-2), which visits Graham on Thursday.
Blair Jackson hit a three-run first inning home run for Fort Chiswell and Hayley Adkins hit a three-run blast in the third. Bre Cody and Krista King had three hits each for the Pioneers.
Marion scored five runs in the bottom of the second and seventh innings. Fort Chiswell led 3-0 in the first, 7-5 in the third and 10-6 going to the seventh. Fort Chiswell out-hit Marion, 17-16, while both teams committed three errors apiece.
Skyler Pike earned the win in relief of starter Abby Rabara for Marion. Adkins pitched a complete game in taking the loss for the Pioneers.

Sullivan East 5, Cloudland 4
It was a good night for the seven softball players at Sullivan East, which celebrated "Senior Night" with six of seven hits for the Patriots, four of five runs, all five RBIs and 18 of 21 putouts on defense in a non-conference home win over the Highlanders.
Olivia Ashbrook led the way for Sullivan East with a double, three singles, two RBIs and two runs scored. Madyson Doss drove in three runs, Shelbie Leffew scored twice and Raquel Del Prete retired 16 of the 17 batters she faced from two-out mark in the first inning to the same moment in the sixth.
Ryan Turbyfill doubled, singled and scored a run for Cloudland, which scored two runs in the first inning. Saharra McKinney had two singles and scored a run. Layken Blair also singled and drove in a run for the Highlanders, which scored single runs in the sixth and seventh to pull within on run.
Sullivan East scored twice apiece in the fifth and six innings to take a 5-3 lead. Breanna Rutledge replaced Del Prete with runners on second and third and no outs in the seventh. She struck out one batter and after an international walk, Doss snagged a line drive at first base and stepped on the bag to end the game.

Rye Cove 12, Castlewood 3
Will Rollins went 3-for-4 to lead a 14-hit attack and also pitched 3 2/3 innings of solid relief as the Rye Cove Eagles gained possession of second place in the Cumberland District with a victory.
The Eagles avenged an 11-8 loss to Castlewood that they suffered just five days before.
Landon Lane, Dawson Kern and Payton Darnell added two hits apiece in the win.
Kern and Rollins teamed to pitch a four-hitter.
Castlewood committed five errors. Cayden Dishman, Payton King and Jared Glovier scored the runs for the Blue Devils.
Auburn 21, George Wythe 0
Brody Hensley and Mitchell Hale combined to pitch a five-inning no-hitter with 12 strikeouts as the Auburn Eagles played outstanding once again.
Last year’s VHSL Class 1 state runner-up improved to 16-1 with the lone loss coming in March to Blacksburg.
Auburn pounded out 17 hits and took advantage of seven walks and four errors by George Wythe.
East Ridge (Ky.) 14, Grundy 0
East Ridge scored a dozen runs in the fifth inning to turn a tight game into a blowout.
Talan Hall, Bricen Lambert, Justin Weaver and Wyatt Surber had Grundy’s hits.
Patrick Henry 10, Holston 6
Winning pitcher Alex Brown went 2-for-2 with a walk, double and three RBIs as the Patrick Henry Rebels outslugged Holston for a Hogoheegee District victory.
Brown owns a .411 batting average this season and has been playing well as of late.
Kolby Hicks, Waylon Daniels and Carson Street added two hits apiece for PH.
Street and Aidan Monahan added two RBIs in the win.
Noah Tweed and Collin Widener each had two hits for Holston.
