Tennessee teen identified as suspect shot by Alabama police after multi-county chase

Special Agents with Alabama's State Bureau of Investigation have identified the person killed by police following a multi-county chase last month.
On Thursday, April 25, just after 11 p.m., Northport police officers were attempting to stop a vehicle on Mcfarland Boulevard in Northport when shots were fired, according to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office.
The vehicle immediately sped off, leading officers, as well as Tuscaloosa Sheriff's deputies and ALEA Troopers, on a chase throughout multiple areas of Tuscaloosa County.

The driver, identified as Gilmar Tista-Morente by ALEA, 19, of Nashville, then crossed into Greene County, at which point officers with the Eutaw Police Department joined the fray.
Eventually, Tista-Morente crashed into another vehicle on Highway 11 near Exit 52 in Greene County, ending the pursuit. He then exited the vehicle and reportedly pulled out a gun at which point he was shot by officers at the scene.

Tista-Morente, who was wanted by the Nashville Police Department for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, was transported to an area hospital where he later died.
ALEA is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the chase and subsequent shooting. Their findings will be turned over to the Greene County District Attorney's Office.
