Pittsburgh Penguins left wing Radim Zohorna (63) against the Tampa Bay Lightning during the first period of an NHL hockey game Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, in Tampa, Fla.

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Radim Zohorna has joined Czechia’s A national team roster for the upcoming Euro Hockey Tour (EHT) tournament in that country in May.

The Czech Ice Hockey Association announced the addition of Zohorna and several other players with NHL contracts via a release on Monday.

This tournament between Czechia, Finland, Sweden and Switzerland serves as something of a preliminary event for those countries leading into the upcoming International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championship tournament, also held in Czechia during May.

Players in the EHT tournament can be selected for their country’s roster for the IIHF World Championship tournament.

The EHT tournament is scheduled to be held May 2-5 while the IIHF World Championship tournament is slated for May 10-26.

Zohorna, who turned 28 on Monday, split the 2023-24 season between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.

In 33 NHL games, he posted seven points (four goals, three assists) while averaging 9:46 of ice time. Meanwhile, with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, he appeared in 30 AHL contests and scored 26 points (10 goals, 16 assists).

Zohorna has previously competed for Czechia on the international stage, most recently as last year in the IIHF World Championship tournament. In three games, he did not record a point.

Penguins forward Jesse Puljujarvi was previously selected to Finland’s A national team roster for the EHT event while Penguins defensemen Erik Karlsson and Marcus Pettersson were already tabbed for Sweden’s roster for the IIHF World Championship tournament.

Penguins assistant coach Ty Hennes was named to the United States’ staff for the IIHF World Championship.
