ELKHORN, Neb. (WOWT) - More than a week after devastating tornadoes tore portions of Omaha’s Elkhorn section apart, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church is still working to ensure those affected have what they need.

As of Sunday morning, they’ve received 110 applications for assistance from people in need. In return, they have over 300 parishioners helping to guide folks towards the help that they need. They are helping victims to find new housing or assistance with rent or insurance claims.

Through a collaboration with Bethany Lutheran Church, they’ve been able to serve meals to around 300-400 people a day. Meals are being prepared at St. Patrick’s and then delivered to Bethany Lutheran Church. Volunteers are also taking meals out to wherever victims are located.

“The biggest need at this point is to have the financial donations to be able to make sure that we can take care of as many people as we can to the extent in which they need it. We are so grateful for all the donations that have come in,” said Amanda Pfeifer, community outreach manager.

St. Patrick’s has also been able to assist with the donation of several cars.

If you would like to help, you can still donate through St. Patrick’s via their website.
